ANNE'S STORY

My name is Anne Day, and as a single mother, this year has been filled with both challenges and growth. Earlier this year, I reunited with my daughter after being apart for some time. Adjusting to a new society while helping her cope with mental health struggles wasn’t easy. I had to stop working my second job to take care of her, which made it hard to keep up with my bills.

After being married for eight years, starting over on my own was difficult. There were moments when I felt lost and unsure of what to do next. I needed support to prevent myself from becoming homeless. When I reached out for help, the Ubumwe Women's Group came to my rescue. They provided food, housing support, and encouragement when I needed it most.

Ubumwe didn’t just help me survive—they helped me rebuild my confidence and believe in myself again. Their compassion reminded me that I wasn’t alone, and that it’s okay to ask for help. Today, I am proud to volunteer with Ubumwe and give back to other women who are walking the same road I once did.

My message to others is simple: don’t lose hope, and don’t give up. Reach out, accept support, and when you’re able, share that same love and care with someone else who may be struggling. Thank you Ubumwe!
